CommonNameCommonName was first spotted on June 7, 2006. Research shows that commonname is adware. CommonName opens one popup per day. It also hijacks the browser´s search feature and points it to commonname.com.If a website is entered into the address bar of internet explorer with a "www" or a ".com", ".net", or other domain extension, CommonName will reroute the browser to an advertising page that is similar to the website name entered in the address bar. CommonName is downloadable directly from software websites like Download.com, and CommonName´s website indicates that they are bundled with P2P file sharing utilities including iMesh, although we were not able to find a version of iMesh that included CommonNameOwner - CommonName.com.
